U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) was found guilty on all 16 counts involving him in a federal corruption trial. After a two-month trial, New Jersey’s senior senator was convicted Tuesday of taking bribes in exchange for political favors to benefit the Egyptian and Qatari governments.

Menendez, 70, is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 29.

Multiple state and federal leaders have called for Menendez to resign, including U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Gov. Phil Murphy who called on the U.S. Senate to vote to expel him if Menendez refused to resign.

Outside of the Manhattan courthouse, Menendez said his team plans to appeal and that he never violated his public oath.
