Superior Court judicial vacancies in NJ, the lowest count since 2019

March 19, 2024 | Number of The Day

The New Jersey Senate confirmed 12 new Superior Court judges on Monday, bringing the total number of judges confirmed since Gov. Phil Murphy took office to 169. There are now 38 judicial vacancies on the New Jersey Superior Court, marking a milestone; it’s the first time the number of vacancies has dropped below 40 since 2019. With an increased number of working judges, many are hopeful for fewer court delays.

“I look forward to making additional nominations and driving the number down even further …, ” Murphy said.
