NJ’s ranking among states with longest ER wait time

New Jersey’s emergency room wait times are among the longest in the nation, after Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Delaware and New York. The Garden State ranks sixth among states with the slowest emergency department response waiting time in the country — an average of 194 minutes, according to a recent analysis of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services data. Maryland had the highest average waiting time — 247 minutes. The analysis was done by High Rise Financial, a pre-settlement legal funding company.

North Dakota had the shortest wait times. There, patients spend an average 107 minutes in the emergency department. Nebraska follows in second, with a wait time of 114 minutes. South Dakotans spend 115 minutes on average when they go to the ER. Iowa and Oklahoma tied for the fourth-shortest wait time, at 117 minutes.
