It’s almost three years since the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission was established. Another milestone was reached recently when the number of cannabis dispensaries in New Jersey exceeded 100. In fact, the commission’s directory lists 102 medicinal and recreational dispensaries across the state.
The dispensaries include 40 that serve both medicinal patients and recreational customers, 12 that are exclusive to medicinal patients and 50 that serve only recreational customers.
“We have been thoughtful and deliberate about establishing New Jersey’s cannabis market that protects patient access, keeps New Jerseyans safe, and prioritizes equity,” said commission chair Dianna Houenou. “I look forward to seeing more municipalities open up to the industry so aspiring entrepreneurs can find opportunities, patients and consumers have more options to purchase safely, and the industry is strengthened.”
New Jersey has been selling adult-use recreational marijuana for nearly two years. Sales of recreational cannabis totaled $673,907,755 in 2023. In the first three quarters of 2023, medicinal cannabis sales totaled $99,588,104.
