New Jersey is the eighth-best state to work in technology careers, according to analysis of Bureau of Labor and Bureau of Transportation statistics by the technology information site Increditools. The premier state for tech workers on the list is Washington, followed by California, Virginia and Maryland. The study took into account factors like wages, the concentration of tech jobs and the ratio of people working remotely.
In New Jersey, the median hourly wage made by tech workers is $51.19. That’s compared to the median rate of $24.56 for all industry workers in the state. The state where tech workers make the least money is Mississippi, with a median hourly rate of $33.2. And the study rated Wyoming the worst state to work in tech in the U.S. It has the lowest rate of people employed in tech roles per 1,000 jobs and one of the lowest percentages of remote workers.
