As of the end of last November, there were 190,628 solar energy systems installed in New Jersey homes and businesses, according to the state’s clean-energy program. Solar energy is projected to provide up to 34% of the electricity used by residents and others by mid-century, according to the state’s latest Energy Master Plan.
New Jersey’s current program, the Successor Solar Incentive Program, allows new solar projects to register to earn renewable energy credits. It’s part of the state’s plan to conform with the Clean Energy Act, striving for 100% clean-energy sources by 2035.
