New funding for Stockton University’s mental health program

Stockton University is expanding its mental health program to include a student wellness room, a community outreach coordinator and mental health first-aid training. Dr. Zupenda Davis, Stockton’s assistant vice president for student health and wellness, said the room will serve as a place for students to take their virtual clinical sessions, among other functions. The expansion is made possible by a $460,000 grant from the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education.

“I’m excited about it because it’s going to increase the capacity of our existing mental health resources that we give to our students,” Davis said. “We have our counseling center. We have other resources on campus, but, as you can imagine, with the increased need for mental health resources, we are just at our capacity. We want to be able to do more than we are doing, and this allows us to complement what we already do.”
