Following the federal Money Follows the Person Program, the New Jersey Department of Human Services is expanding community housing for those in need, particularly those with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or those with acute needs. The goal is to help service providers purchase, develop and renovate group homes. Some $5 million is available for the initiative.
“Community housing is always in demand for individuals with acute needs,” Deputy Commissioner for Aging and Disability Services Kaylee McGuire said. “Expanding our capacity further empowers individual choice, with our ultimate goal being to strengthen community infrastructure and ensure individuals are supported in their homes.”
The Division of Developmental Disabilities will allocate up to $90,000 for each home. More information on funding criteria and application details can be found here.
