President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law aims to rebuild and expand access to a wide range of things, including internet. Ensuring every American has access to high-speed internet is one of the 10 components highlighted in the legislation. Over 30 million people, particularly in rural communities, have slow speeds or no access to the internet. New Jersey is receiving more than $6 million from the Biden administration for “Internet for All” grants.
The grants would help deploy high-speed internet, develop digital training programs and increase digital equity by investing in broadband infrastructure.
“High-speed broadband is essential for work, school, and staying connected to family and friends,” said Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) in a statement. “Expanding broadband access helps level the technology playing field and grows our nation’s economic competitiveness. I was proud to vote for the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and I’m grateful for the partnership with federal, state, and local officials to increase digital equity and access to high-speed internet in every community.”
