The 9th Congressional District covers parts of Bergen, Hudson and Passaic counties. The Bergen municipalities are Carlstadt, Cliffside Park, East Rutherford, Edgewater, Elmwood Park, Fairview, Franklin Lakes, Garfield, Hasbrouck, Little Ferry, Lodi, Lyndhurst, Moonachie, North Arlington, Oakland, Ridgefield, Rochelle Park, Rutherford, Saddle Brook, South Hackensack, Teterboro, Wallington, Wood-Ridge and part of Maywood. Secaucus and part of Kearny in Hudson are in the district. The Passaic County communities are Clifton, Haledon, Hawthorne, North Haledon, Passaic City, Paterson, Pompton Lakes, Prospect Park and part of Wayne.

Redistricting made the 9th a little less blue. The voter registration split is 42% Democrats, 18% Republicans and about 38% unaffiliated.

Incumbent Democrat Bill Pascrell Jr., of Paterson, has been in office since 1997. He is unopposed.

Running for a second time, also unopposed, is Republican Billy Prempeh of Paterson who has been linked to the discredited QAnon theory.
