A second New Jersey child has died from influenza complications this season.
The New Jersey Department of Health says lab tests have confirmed flu was a contributing factor in the death of a North Jersey toddler earlier this month.
State Health Commissioner Dr. Shereef Elnahal says flu levels remain high throughout the state and that getting a flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and others.
For reasons of medical privacy, the department will not be releasing additional information.
