A number of related grocery distribution centers in New Jersey are being closed, potentially costing more than 500 workers their jobs.
The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development received WARN notices affecting five companies in Avenel and Carteret as of July 12:
– Middlesex Avenue Logistics in Carteret: 364 jobs affected
– Blair Road Logistics in Avenel: 85 jobs affected
– Port Carteret Drive Logistics in Carteret: 81 jobs affected
– Middlesex Avenue Haulage in Carteret: 45 jobs affected
– Blair Road Haulage in Avenel: 22 jobs affected
According to a report in trade publication The Shelby Report, the three facilities had been operated by White Rose, a unit of Associated Wholesalers Inc. They were then purchased by C&S Wholesale Grocers in 2014 as part of AWI’s bankruptcy.
