NJ Decides 2012: The New Jersey Primary

NJTV will cover Tuesday’s state primary elections both on-air and online. Voters will go to the polls throughout the state to decide the parties’ candidates for the general election in November.

The network’s television coverage begins Tuesday, June 5 with a live, special edition of its week-nightly news program, NJ Today at 6 p.m. ET (check local listings). The program, anchored by NJ Today Managing Editor Mike Schneider, will feature segments with political analysts, pollsters and other experts assessing the state’s political climate.

NJTV’s coverage continues later in the evening with a live update at 8 p.m., followed by the broadcast of NJ Decides 2012: The New Jersey Primary at 9 p.m. ET. This live, special report program, anchored by Mike Schneider from the NJ Today studio at Montclair State University, will extend throughout the evening. He will be periodically joined by Chief Political Correspondent Michael Aron and state political experts. Among those slated to appear: Steve Ayscue (Democratic Strategist and Communications Consultant); Roger Bodman (Senior Partner, Public Strategies Impact); Brigid Harrison (Professor, Political Science and Law at Montclair State University); and Patrick Murray (Director, Monmouth University Polling Institute).

Throughout the night, NJTV will use news trucks and remote interview stations to provide live election coverage and content for broadcast and the web. On-site correspondents will report and tweet live from the hotly contested Ninth Congressional District, where Reps. Bill Pascrell and Steve Rothman are battling to represent the newly-redrawn district. NJTV recently broadcast their primary debate live from Montclair State University.

NJTV will complement its its broadcast coverage with online election content including results of the contested primary races which will be updated throughout the night after the polls close at 8 p.m.
